The Department of Pharmaceutics, Institutional IPR Cell, in collaboration with IPR Cell & Sparklecine, JSSAHER, Mysuru, organized a distinguished guest lecture on the topic “Adventures in Research Translation – Frugal Innovation to Global Products” on 23rd September 2025 at the Golden Jubilee Digital Theatre. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Avinash P. Sattur, Retired Chief Scientist and CSIR Emeritus Scientist, CFTRI, Mysuru, who has vast expertise in translating innovative research into globally recognized products. Dr. Sattur began his talk by stressing the significance of frugal innovation as a powerful tool to address societal needs with minimal resources while ensuring scalability and global relevance. He shared multiple examples from his own research journey, where cost-effective approaches led to impactful innovations that transcended regional boundaries and were eventually adopted as global products. He emphasized the need for collaboration between academia, industry, and research organizations, highlighting that research should not remain confined to laboratories but should find pathways into real-world applications.
