
On May 17, 2025, the Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, in collaboration with the Department of Yoga, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSSAHER), and under the aegis of the Global Association of Public Health, observed World Hypertension Day. The event featured a ‘Yoga for Hypertension’ session, health awareness activities, and free health check-ups, aligning with the theme: “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer” The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Narayanappa D, Principal; Dr. Praveen Kulkarni, Vice Principal (Para-clinical); Administrative Officer Sri Satishchandra; Dr. Madhu B, Deputy Dean Research; Dr. Sunil Kumar D, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine; and Dr. Sujan M U, Coordinator, Department of Yoga by watering the plant. The event was coordinated by Dr. Amoghashree, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Rashmi S, Senior Resident, Department of Community Medicine. Teaching and non-teaching staff, along with students of JSSAHER, attended the yoga session, which was led by Ms Janavi, Assistant Professor from the Department of Yoga. Volunteers assisted participants during the 90-minute session, which was well-received and appreciated by all attendees. Health awareness was disseminated through informative posters, and staff of JSSAHER were screened for blood pressure, blood sugar, and haemoglobin levels.
