National Pathology Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr.V.R.Khanolkar in accordance with his dedication towards teaching, research, and excellence in pathology on the 13th of April. The celebration was hosted on 26/04/2025 at SRCA Auditorium Lounge, III Floor, JSS Hospital. The celebrations commenced with invoking the blessings of the Almighty, Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji and offering pranams to the lotus feet of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. The dignitaries and the gathering were welcomed by Dr.Sheeladevi C.S., Head of the Department of Pathology, JSS MC. This was followed by a brief insight into the contributions to the field of Pathology by Dr.V.R.Khanolkar and the event was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp. The programme was inaugurated by Guests of Honor Dr.Narayanappa D, Principal, JSS Medical College, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, and the Deputy Director Dr.G.V.Manjunath. Mr.Biju Radhakrishnan, Product Manager- Hematology South & West, Mindray Medical India Pvt. Ltd spoke on ‘Technological Advancement in Hematology automation’, which was followed by the lectures on the topic “Myelodysplastic Neoplasms”. Dr.Mahesh Rajashekaraiah, Consultant Hematologist & BMT Physician, and Dr.Sandeep Rao, Laboratory Director, Triesta Sciences, HCG Hospitals spoke on the approach to the diagnosis and the molecular aspects of Myelodysplastic neoplasms. The responsibility expected to be shouldered by Pathologists in this era of Molecular Pathology and personalized medicine was highlighted by the speakers. Dr.Subhash Chandra B.J., Professor, Department of General Medicine, JSS Hospital, Mysuru and Dr.Kiran P.K., Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Oncology, JSS Hospital, Mysuru chaired the sessions. The sessions were interactive and were attended by the faculty and postgraduates of Pathology, JSS Medical College and Mysore medical College. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr.Rajalakshmi B.R.
