On 12th November 2024, a field visit to the JSS Community Radio Station at JSS College of Arts Commerce and Science, Mysuru, was organized for third-semester Master of Public Health (MPH) students. This visit, part of the Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) core, aimed to provide students with practical insights into communication strategies that promote public health. The community radio station plays a crucial role in delivering health information to local communities within fifteen km radius. This visit provided students the opportunity to observe and learn about the station's operational processes, staffing structure, infrastructure, audience engagement, and the development and broadcasting of health-related content. They also gained insights into how health information is scripted and broadcasted through both live and pre-recorded sessions. Through this visit, students gained valuable first-hand knowledge of how community radio fosters health awareness and encourages positive behavioural changes within local populations.
