On September 4, 2024, JSS Dental College and Hospital in Mysuru hosted a practical and enlightening seminar led by Dr. Prashant S, titled “Crafting and Delivering Impactful Presentations.” This session, part of the PG orientation program for first-year MDS students, provided essential guidance on both the creation and delivery of compelling presentations

Dr. Prashant S opened the seminar by underscoring the critical role of effective presentations in the academic and clinical realms. He emphasized that a well-crafted presentation can significantly enhance the communication of research findings and clinical insights

The seminar was structured to cover both data-based and case-based presentations, providing a comprehensive view of presentation techniques. Dr. Prashant first demonstrated how to present case-based presentations. He demonstrated how to present clinical cases in a structured and engaging manner. He recommended starting with a brief overview of the case, followed by a detailed discussion of the patient’s history, diagnosis, treatment plan, and outcomes. Dr. Prashant used a real case example to show how to present clinical data, emphasizing the importance of a clear narrative that guides the audience through the case. He demonstrated how to integrate visual aids, such as patient images and diagnostic results, to complement the verbal presentation and enhance understanding. Following this, Dr. Prashant shifted to teach how to present data effectively. He showed how to structure data-driven presentations by focusing on clarity and simplicity. Using real examples, he illustrated how to present complex data through clear, visually appealing charts and graphs. He emphasized the importance of highlighting key trends and findings without overwhelming the audience with excessive details. Dr. Prashant’s demonstration included a live walkthrough of a sample data presentation, where he effectively used visual aids to make complex information accessible and engaging

Throughout the seminar, Dr. Prashant actively engaged with the audience by performing live presentations. He showed how to manage slides, maintain eye contact, and use body language effectively. His practical demonstrations allowed students to see firsthand how to apply these techniques, including managing presentation anxiety and delivering content with confidence
