A field visit was arranged for 2nd semester students from School of Public Health to visit the Sewage treatment plant, Vidyaranyapuram on 19th July 2024. The field visit provided an exposure and in-depth understanding of the sewage treatment process and how effectively remove biological, chemical, and physical contaminants. The visit emphasized the importance of access to safe water and sanitation, a fundamental public health principle. Students also understood the plant’s adherence to public health regulations and standards, and how these regulations are designed to protect public health. The visit was also extended to the nearby solid waste management plant, where the students were shown and explained about the sanitary landfill and composting methods.
