To know more about the tribal health systems, how they function, and how to run a successful NGO, 39 students and 6 faculty members from the School of Public Health, JSSAHER, visited the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) NGO in Saraguru. Guided by Dr. Kumar G S, Head of Health Sector at SVYM, and Dr. Abhishek, Senior Manager, the group was divided into two. The students explored innovative tribal health initiatives, visited tribal hamlets to understand their living conditions, and discussed health challenges directly with the communities. The visit concluded with an enlightening session led by Dr. Seetaraman M R, Consultant Orthopedician and Advisor of SVYM, offering deep insights into effective healthcare strategies for underserved populations. This experience highlighted the significance of culturally sensitive healthcare and the power of community engagement.
