Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, Mysuru inaugurated the Family Adoption Programme at K R Mills Colony Subcentre under Hanchya PHC of Mysuru district on 02.12.2023, where MBBS students were allotted families. The students will follow the same families throughout their course and learn about the health and disease status of the families and give them the necessary recommendations. Dr P C Kumarswamy, District Health and Family welfare officer, Mysuru spoke on the occasion and motivated the students to commit themselves for the community work for next 3 yrs. Dr.Nayana Shabadi, Asst Professor, Dept of community Medicine, JSS medical college briefed about the adoption programme where each of first year MBBS students were allotted three houses at K R mills colony to know regarding the health status of the rural population and to provide health education, awareness, primary health care and referral services at their doorstep. Siddlinga Gram Panchayat president, Mr Madesh, Prject Development officer, Mr Yogesh, and other members of the gram panchayat, FAP2023-24 incharge, Dr Shwetha N Kurkuri and Dr Sunitha Singh were present. The inauguration was followed by health camp where more than 50 patients took treatment for disesaes like hypertension, diabetes and other non communicable diseases. The inauguration concluded with planting the medicinal plant saplings as a part of environmental sustainability.
