Field Visit to United Breweries, Food & Beverage Industry

A study trip was organized to the United Breweries, a Food & Beverage Industry, Nanjangud for the Final year (VI Semester) BSc students on 08th June 2024. The visit was organized to commemorate World Food Safety Day celebrated on 7th June 2024 by the department Microbiology Club to make students familiar with the safe production of microbially fermented foods. The visit helped students understand the practical aspects of the Core Paper on Industrial Microbiology & Fermentation Technology. The industry personnels explained to the students the process involved in beer fermentation & production. The students were able to observe industrial scale fermenters and its mode of operation, the raw materials and media used for cultivating the yeast strains, sterilization techniques used for beer production. The students learnt about the importance of QA & QC in safe production of food & beverages.
