Model Making Competition was conducted by Department of Microbiology as part of National Science Day celebrations on 26th February 2022. The teams consisting of 3 members participated from all the Departments and Divisions of School of Life Sciences and Life Sciences Departments, JSS AHER. Models were instructed to be aligned with sustainable development goals and were categorised into Display models and Working models for both UG and PG students. Dr. Chandrashekara M, Professor, University of Mysore, Mysuru and Dr. Prakash M Halami, Chief Scientist & Prof. (AcSIR) were invited as Guests to inaugurate and judge the models. Dr. Raveesha KA, Head, SLS & LSD along with all faculty were present for the inauguration. In all 17 teams participated in the competition consisting of total 50 particpants. Department of Environmental Science bagged the first and second prize in the working model PG level for Sewage water treatment plant and Rainwater filtration sytem while the first and second prize was given to Dept. of Microbiology and Dept. of Biotechnology in the PG level Display model for Ocular tuberculosis and Solid State Tesla coil, respectively. In the UG level working model, the first prize was bagged by Earth Clean Mask (Dept. of Biotechnology) while Instant Energy Boltz (Dept. of Nutrition of Dietetics) received the second prize. In the Display model UG level, both first and second prizes went to Department of Biotechnology teams for SymArt and Phytoremediation of wastewater, respectively. The models displayed were highly appreciated by the Judges for their innovative thinking and creative presentation. The models were kept for display for the entire day for students and faculty of JSS AHER to visit. The event was organised under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Raveesha KA, Head, SLS & LSD, JSS AHER, coordinated by Dr. Ashwini P, Coordinator, Department of Microbiology and organised by Dr. Archer Ann Catherine, Dr. Umamaheshwari S and Dr. Sunita Mesta C.
