In commemoration of the 108th Jayanthi celebration of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Rajendra Mahaswamiji and on the occasion of International Microorganism Day, the Department of Microbiology, JSS AHER, Mysuru organised a workshop on foldscope on 21st September 2023. Walkathon to raise awareness on ‘Antibiotic resistance, health & hygiene’ on 24th September, 2023. The workshop on Foldscope titled ‘Exploring the microbial world through the eyes of a foldscope’ was organised and facilitated by Dr. Ann Catherine Archer, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology for school students of Class VIII. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Raveesha KA, Dean, School of Life Sciences & Life Sciences Departments in presence of Dr. Ashwini P, Coordinator, Department of Microbiology and faculty of the department. About 45 students from Excel Public School, Sadvidya High School and JSS High School participated in the workshop. Dr. Anupama Harshal, Science Communicator and Foldscope expert from Mumbai was invited to train the students in assembling the foldscope, preparing samples and visualizing microscopic materials. The workshop concluded with enthusiastic students eager to explore more of the microscopic world and received certificates from Dr. Raveesha KA and Dr. Anupama Harshal.
