Workshop - Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

On 14th June 2024, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of JSS Dental College and Hospital organized a 'Capacity Building Workshop on the Role and Functions of ICC.' The event aimed to enhance the understanding and capabilities of ICC members, including teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and students, regarding sexual harassment issues against women in the professional workplace

Prior to the workshop, an orientation program on gender sensitization was held for 1st and 3rd year BDS students. This session focused on the roles of men and women in society, the reality of gender equality and the empowerment and justice women receive today. The session was engaging and humorous, leaving both students and staff amused and entertained by the resource person

The inaugural session was graced by several distinguished guests, including Dr. Suma M. N., Vice Principal, JSS Medical College and ICC Member, Dr. Dhakshaini M. R., Principal, JSS Dental College and Hospital and Chairman of ICC, Dr. Jaishankar, Vice Principal, JSS Dental College and Hospital, and Dr. Nandini C. P., Associate Professor, Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), Visakhapatnam. The event began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais, followed by welcome speech from Dr. Dhakshaini M. R.

Dr. Nandini C. P., the Guest Speaker, delivered a comprehensive talk on the roles and functions of the ICC for all members of the constituent colleges of JSSAHER. The interactive session allowed participants to ask questions and discuss specific concerns, providing deeper insights into complex issues and practical solutions for preventing and addressing harassment.

The primary objectives of the workshop were to: 1.Educate participants on the legal framework concerning sexual harassment against women in the workplace 2.Clarify the roles and responsibilities of ICC members 3.Develop skills for effective grievance redressal and complaint handling 4.Promote a safe and supportive work environment for women The post-lunch session featured competitions for street and reel plays by undergraduate students, judged by
Dr. Nandini C. P., Dr. Renuka, Dr. Ashwini, and Dr. Shalini. The judges were impressed by the students' performances. The program concluded with the distribution of prizes in both categories and a vote of thanks by student member of ICC.

E-certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees.
