We are thrilled to share the highlights from our World Blood Donor Day event, held at the School of Public Health, JSS Medical College, JSS AHER, on 14th June 2024 in collaboration between the School of Public Health and JSS Hospital Blood Center. The event was themed as “20 years of celebrating giving: thank you blood donors!”, and was a profound success, bringing together guests, faculties and students to honor the selfless act of blood donation. We were privileged to have our esteemed guests, Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa, Principal of JSS Medical College, Sri Sr. Sathish Chandra, Administrative Officer of JSS Medical College, Dr. Anil S. Bilimale, Chief MPH Coordinator, Dr. Pallavi P, Associate Professor, JSS Hospital and Dr. Archana S, Assistant Professor, Skill Lab who graced the occasion and shared inspiring words and support. Totally 44 volunteers came forward to donate blood, however only 18 could donate as per the screening criteria. The donors included faculties, PhD scholars, students, and supportive staff from the School of Public Health, Department of Community Medicine, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Department of Health System Management Studies, and the Centre for Distance & Online Education. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the faculties, volunteers, students, PGs, technical staff, and nursing staff from JSS Hospital who participated and assisted in the smooth conduct of the event. Their contributions are a testament to our collective commitment to saving lives and fostering a spirit of compassion. Everyone gathered for the event participated in taking the blood donation pledge issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Let’s continue to be the change we wish to see in the world. Together, we can save lives.
