The School of Life Sciences Mysuru & Life Sciences Departments of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research Mysuru, hosted a one-day event titled 'PhD Odyssey: Charting Paths Beyond Academia' on May 30, 2024, at the SLSM Auditorium. The event was designed to provide PhD scholars with insights into various career paths beyond traditional academic roles, focusing on skills development, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurship. The inaugural address by Dr. Prashanth Vishwanath highlighted the importance of diversifying career options for PhD graduates. Keynote speakers included Dr. Kunal Sharan, who discussed creative thinking and research funding opportunities; Mr. Krishna Prasad, who spoke on social entrepreneurship; and Dr. Rajesh Kumar T, who emphasized essential skills for post-PhD success. Additionally, Dr. Prashanth S shared their insights on transitioning research from the lab to the market.
