A one-day International Workshop on “Critical Appraisal of Grant Writing”, organized by the School of Public Health, JSS AHER, Mysuru, took place on March 23, 2024. The event commenced with an inauguration and keynote address delivered by Dr. Prashant Mathur, Director of ICMR NCDIR, who shared valuable insights into grant writing. Dr. Sridevi Annapurna Singh, Director, CSIR-CFTRI, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, adding her expertise to the workshop. Additionally, Dr. Chandan S, the Deputy Dean (Research), JSS AHER, graced the occasion. The sessions were handled by esteemed faculty members from renowned universities. These included Dr. Purnima Madhivanan, Associate Professor at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona, USA; Dr. Mayur Desai, Professor of Epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, USA; Dr. Brian Dodge, Professor and Director of the University of Arizona LGBTQ+ Institute, USA; Dr. Subba Rao MVSST, Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru; and Dr. Mahesh PA, Professor of Respiratory Medicine at JSS Medical College & Hospital, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru. With a participation of over 35 individuals from various disciplines including Savitribai Phule University Pune, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, JSS Medical College, Department of Nutrition, and School of Public Health, JSS AHER, the workshop provided a platform for collaborative learning and skill enhancement. Throughout the day, participants engaged in critical discussions and analysis, both formally and informally, fostering an environment conducive to knowledge exchange and professional growth. This workshop not only equipped participants with essential grant writing skills but also stimulated meaningful dialogue on advancing research endeavours in the field of Public Health and allied disciplines.
