The NSS Unit JSS College of Pharmacy in association with the Department of Pharmacy Practice organized a talk on Drug and Poison information at Taripura village Shrirangapattana taluk, Mandya district on 6th March 2024 at 5.45pm in the rama manidar temple. Dr M Umesh Assistant Professor from Department of Pharmacy Practice gave a talk and created awareness about the snake bite and its management followed by first aid methods for various types of poisons substances. Overall, the villagers were active and interacted actively and the event was successful. More than 260 villagers along with the college students were present during the awareness program. The villagers and the students were told about the importance of First aid treatment in case of Snake bite, Accidental Poisoning in elderly, Accidental poisoning in children, precautionary measures to be followed while spraying pesticides and insecticides and conducting the activities like providing suggestions for different types of poisons through the toll-free number ie., 1800-425-0207. The staff also created awareness on the Poison Information Centre website which is developed and run by department of clinical pharmacy which comprises information on different types of poisons, their treatment protocols, antidotes their doses etc., and how to access the information which will be helpful in treating or managing the poison toxicity by providing first aid treatment as well as specific antidotes in different types of poisoning cases.
