During World Breastfeeding Week 2023, several health education initiatives were organized to promote breastfeeding awareness and support mothers in Mysuru. Suttur PHC Session (August 3, 2023): A health education session was conducted at Suttur Primary Health Centre (PHC) where Dr. Kavya G Upadhya, Senior Resident, Department of Community Medicine, along with Dr. Ramya M, Medical Officer, discussed breastfeeding challenges and emphasized its importance. Around 30 expectant and lactating mothers attended the session, along with other staff members of Suttur PHC. JSSMC Webinar (August 4, 2023): The Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College (JSSMC), organized a webinar titled 'Enabling Breastfeeding: Making a difference for working parents' on August 4, 2023. Dr. Madhu B, Professor, Department of Community Medicine and Deputy Dean (Research), JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSSAHER), shared valuable insights. The webinar, coordinated by Dr. Kavya G Upadhya, attracted approximately 200 participants from across India. Bannimantap Urban PHC Session (August 7, 2023): A health education session took place at Bannimantap Urban Primary Health Centre as part of World Breastfeeding Week observations. Phase 2 MBBS students presented a skit highlighting the importance of breastfeeding to an audience comprising antenatal and postnatal mothers, as well as the general public. Dr. Lokesh, Medical Officer, Urban PHC, along with Reshma Banu, Corporator Bannimantap, and other staff members attended the event. The coordination was handled by Dr. Shruddha, Dr. Kavya G Upadhya, and Dr. Mythily M R, Senior Residents from the Department of Community Medicine. These initiatives aimed to raise awareness about breastfeeding, address common challenges, and provide support to mothers in their breastfeeding journey.
