Guest Lecture on Pharma Regulatory Authorities in India and Their Role

In the guest lecture delivered by Dr. Selvaraj, retired Director of Drug Control in Tamil Nadu, key insights were shared regarding the pharmaceutical regulatory landscape in India. Dr. Selvaraj highlighted the pivotal role of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) as the primary regulatory authority, overseeing new drug approvals, clinical trials, and licensing of manufacturing facilities. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), headed by Dr. Selvaraj during his tenure, was emphasized for its crucial responsibilities in approving clinical trials, granting marketing authorization for new drugs, and ensuring post-marketing surveillance.
