ALUMNI TALK: Breaking Barriers - A women`s Public Health Journey in Hard to Reach Areas

The School of Public Health, JSS MC, JSS AHER conducted an enlightening online alumni talk on 6th February 2024, featuring Dr. Rufia Shaista Khanum, a distinguished alumnus from the 2019-21 batch. Dr. Khanum, who currently holds the position of State Public Health Coordinator-Surveillance at PATH in Madhya Pradesh, shared her invaluable experiences and insights with 30 participants. The session was initiated by Dr. Anil S Bilimale, who briefed everyone about the purpose of the talk and the opportunities that lay ahead. Following this, Dr. Sreena T V introduced Dr. Rufia Shaista Khanum to the participants. The session shed light on Dr. Khanum's challenging journey as a Rapid Response Team (RRT) consultant with the World Health Organization (WHO), particularly in the hard-to-reach areas of Nagaland and West Bengal. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students from the School of Public Health had the opportunity to raise their queries. Dr. Khanum addressed these questions, thereby further enriching the participants' understanding of various career paths inĀ publicĀ health.
