Hands on training session on Anatomy topics was organized by Department of Anatomy, JSS Medical college Mysuru on 19th August 2023 for PG Diploma students in Yoga from Sri Patanjali yoga studies & Research Centre, Mysuru

Dr. Vidya C S, Professor and Head, Dept of Anatomy, JSS Medical College welcomed all the participants on behalf JSS Medical College. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Vidya C S emphasizing in depth knowledge of body structure so that it becomes easy for them to learn body movements, its functions and alignments. She stressed on how it helps Yoga practitioners/instructors to deal with injuries in the right manner. She gave overall view of human body and role of Anatomy in different types of asanas. Dr Najma Mobin Associate Professor explained the parts of respiration system, breathing exercises and demonstrated thoracic cage and different parts of lungs. Dr Shivaprakash S Associate Professor gave overview of circulatory system and demonstrated external and internal features of heart. Dr.Pushpa N.B., Associate Professor demonstrated brain and peripheral nervous system, its coverings, position, functions and nerve injuries. Abdominal organs were demonstrated by Dr.Vinutha S.P., Assistant Professor giving a brief introduction to its location, functions and its clinical conditions. A brief talk on Musculoskeletal system was delivered by Dr.Ravishankar M.V, gave a brief introduction to basic tissues in human body, muscular system – classification, functions and different types of movements. He also demonstrated different body parts along with concerned bones of Upper limb and lower limb.
