The Department of Medical Genetics, JSS Medical College and Hospital, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru organized a guest lecture entitled “Overview of RNA-sequencing analysis” on Tuesday, 22nd November, 2023. It was delivered by Dr. C. Viswanathan, Senior Scientific Officer at Mediomix Diagnosis and Bioresearch Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, Karnataka. He was also accompanying Ms. Prachi, Field Application Scientist, Mediomix Diagnosis and Bioresearch Pvt. Ltd.

In his guest lecture, Dr. Viswanathan provided an overview on RNA sequencing technology, available platforms and the basic steps for RNA-sequencing data analysis. He also spoke about the application of this technology in understanding the underpinning mechanistic biology of diseases like cancer, infections and many others. His talk concluded with an interactive Q&A session. Ms. Prachi then discussed with the students about internship opportunities at Mediomic Diagnosis and Bioresearch Pvt. Ltd., and potential career opportunities in the Transcriptomics field.

The talk was attended by the students, scholars and faculty members of the department who highly appreciated the informative lectures by the guests.
