Report of FIRST AID AND BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING conducted at JSS Medical college

Commemorating the 108th Jayanthi Celebration of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji FIRST AID TRAINING AND BASIC LIFE SUPPORT hands on workshop was organized at JSS Medical college Sri Rajendra auditorium on 9th September at 2:PM. 108 registered participants from constituent colleges and university departments of JSSAHER actively participated in the event. Programme was started with introduction of the event by Dr. Basavana Gowdappa principal JSSMC, who highlighted the importance of such training. Dr. Suma vice -principal. JSSMC appreciated all the facilitators & the delegates for participating in the event. First aid training session was conducted by Dr. Archana S, chief coordinator JSSAHER skill & simulation center. Important topics like first aid treatment of bleeding, burns, , insect bites and snake bite treatment, poisoning, electric injuries, stroke, diabetes, seizures and heart attack management were explained to the participants. It was highly interactive sessions with participants clearing many of their doubts. After that Basic life support session was conducted by Dr. Sarika M Shetty Associate professor anaesthesiology & Dr. Archana. Importance of starting chest compressions (CPR) as early as possible when victim is unconscious was stressed upon. Participants were familiarized with usage of AED machine and CPR technique. Emergency management of choking and how to relieve choking in adults & in children was demonstrated. Participants were later divided into 10 groups and hands on training was conducted on CPR using mannequins at Sri Rajendra auditorium. Each participant did CPR and was given feedback by instructors, Dr. Archana K N , Dr. Manthappa M, Dr. Vijaya Vageesh, Dr. Vinitha K R, Dr. Nagashree, Dr. Arpitha L, Dr. Venkatesh C R, Dr. Varsha, Dr. Nandini who are all AHA Certified BLS & ACLS instructors participated as faculty for the training. Certificates were issued to all the registered participants after successfully completing hands on training sessions.
