The Institution Innovation Council of JSS Medical College organised a one-day workshop MAGICC (Medical Hackathon Aimed towards Groundbreaking Innovation from Concept to Commercialization), for MBBS students to introduce healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship to aspiring medical professionals. Dr Praveen Kulkarni, the Vice Principal, inaugurated the event, emphasising the importance of innovation in healthcare and encouraging students to submit their ideas to the YUKTHI portal for potential funding. Dr Shwethashree M, Assistant Professor of Community Medicine at JSSMC, led the Conceptualisation session, where students explored the Creation and Prototyping phase, guided by Mr Samyak Shah, representing 3 ZERO 3D PRINTING. After a refreshing tea break, Dr Raju C, a distinguished Professor from IIM Kozhikode, provided insights into the commercialisation aspect of healthcare innovation. Dr Balamuralidhara V, an Associate Professor & HOD at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, conducted a post-lunch session on Intellectual Property Rights. The workshop's highlight was Session 5 - an enthralling Incubation Center Tour by Mr Praveen Kumar of SPARKLE CINE TEAM. Students had the opportunity to interact with real-life startup founders and healthcare innovators during the tour, which showcased cutting-edge technologies and inspiring success stories in healthcare innovation. The day concluded with a Q&A session, where participants sought clarifications and advice from the experts.
