Guest Lecture on - Patenting Medical Inventions- Protection of IP rights in Biotechnology Research and Innovation

As part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) celebrations to mark 75 years of India's Independence, the School of Public Health, and Institution Innovation Council in association with CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, organized a lecture on 'Patenting Medical Inventions: Protection of IP rights in Biotechnology Research and Innovation' centered on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in line with ATMANIRBHARTA's main goals. Dr.Parigi Ramesh Kumar, Senior Principal Scientist, Technology Transfer& Business Development Coordinator (ISTU), CSIR-C.F.T.R.I, gave an overview of the Genesis of the IPR awareness program. Ms. Neha Srivastava Patent Attorney, Remfry & Sagar, Bengaluru, talked about the different aspects of IPR such as patenting procedure, case scenarios, and legal aspects. Dr. B. Kumar, Senior Technical Officer, CSIR-CFTRI, concluded the session with more information on the benefits of IPR for higher education institutions. The session was attended by faculties, Ph.D. scholars, and PG students of various constituent institutions of JSS AHER.
