''Comprehensive Training on Surgical Endodontics' Workshop - Mark Twain once said “The Secret of Getting ahead is getting started” – The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics has started a Value Added Certificate Course on “Surgical Endodontics” in association with the Implant Clinic at JSS Dental College & Hospital from 08/02/2023 to 10/02/2023.The course aims at facillitating postgraduate students of the department in the field of Surgical Endodontics such as case selection,Local Anesthesia administration,Soft & Hard tissue management ,suturing techniques and pre & post operative surgical care of the patient. 15 PG Students from the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics had enrolled for the Value Added Course. Resource faculty were Dr Annapoorna B M, Dr Sunil Tejaswi K L & Dr Ambikathanaya U K from Dept of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. Dr Sahith Kumar Shetty, Dr Sham Sundar S & Dr Chandan S N from Dept of Oral Surgery Day 1 : Inaugural Session – Dr. Chandrashekar B R, Associate Dean, JSS AHER presided over the inaugural function as the Chief Guest. He emphasized on the need for such value added courses which would boost the clinical skills of the Postgraduate Students to handle such surgical cases. Dr. Annapoorna B M, Professor & Head of the Department delivered the welcome address. Dr. Sunil Tejaswi K L, Organizing Secretary, handed over the Flower Bouquet as a token of Appreciation to the Chief Guest. The event was concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Suneeth Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics followed by National Anthem. There was a Question &Answer session which was answered by the Panel of Guest Speakers effectively. A Hands-on Activity on “Suturing Techniques” was organized on Day 1 which was moderated by Dr Sahith Shetty , Dr Shyam Sundar &Dr Chandan. The Students could practice with Suturing Kit which was provided during the training session. Day 2 : Second day of the course, the students were assigned goat heads in Preclinical Conservative lab on which they could practice soft & hard tissue management & various suturing techniques under the expert’s guidance which was followed by a hands on activity on 3D printed Resin Models which was prepared with the help of Dr.Rajeev Abraham, Forensic Odontology Department. Students practiced Root End Resection, root end preparation& Root End Filling on these models under the expert’s guidance. Day 3 :A Live Demonstration on periapical surgery was given by Dr.Sahith Kumar Shetty &Dr. Sunil Tejaswi K L in Implant Clinics. Students performed periapical surgical procedures on patients and gave post surgical instruction to the patients .The event concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony.'
