Graduates’ Reception for 2017-18 Batch for 205 medical students was held on Wednesday 19th April 2023, Wednesday at JSS Medical Institutions campus, Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, Mysuru.

The programme was held in the Divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru.

Dr.Pratima Murthy, Director, NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences), Bengaluru, was the chief guest. Dr.B.Suresh, Pro-Chancellor & Dr.Surinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, JSSAHER, were the guest of honour and Dr.C.G.Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS MVP, presided over the function.

The program started with an invocation by Ms.Srishti Dutta & Ms.Muktakshi Sonkar, students of JSS Medical College. A total of 205 newly graduated medical students received their graduation certificates on this occasion.

Dr.H.Basavana Gowdappa, Principal, JSS Medical College, welcomed the gathering and congratulated young graduates who have successfully entered into the world of medical profession. He reminded them that they would be the ambassadors of the institution in the world, and their sincerity, behaviour, and work would be reflected upon the quality of training they received at the college.

Dr.Mamatha.S, Professor and Head, Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, administered the Hippocratic Oath to Graduates.

Dr.Praveen Kulkarni announced the winners of medals, awards and cash prizes. His Holiness Swamiji & Chief Guest Dr.Pratima Murthy distributed the awards.

Dr.Pratima Murthy began her graduation day speech by commending the college's emphasis on MANTRA: 'Medical care with compassion, academic excellence, nurturing student quality, technology-driven education and care, research and innovation, and to achieve continuous and lifelong learning.

Dr.Murthy congratulated the graduates and advised them to show gratitude towards those who helped them along the way. She also extended congratulations to the families of the graduates who were a part of the process of creating a doctor in their family.

She stressed that the new doctors' commitment to serving humanity must be based on the mantra of DISCIPLINE: Dedication, Integrity, Compassion, Informed practice, Love for fellow human beings, being Inspiring role models in society, Professionalism, developing Nurturing qualities, and developing the highest Ethical standards in their practice of medicine.

Dr.Murthy mentioned that today's confluence of doctors, teachers, and spiritual gurus offers the three gifts of health, learning, and spiritual knowledge. She thanked the teachers for inspiring, supporting, and mentoring the young graduates. She saluted the spiritual gurus for keeping us rooted in our culture and helping us build resilience and a sense of purpose and meaning.

She advised the new doctors to be prepared to chart their path, plan their journey, make tough choices, and meet up to the challenges. She emphasized the general excitement of the world of medicine and the brain and mind, particularly with ongoing transformations in the organizational paradigm from organization-centric to person-centric care. She also talked about the influence of technology on medicine, including mobile technology, nanotechnology, molecular medicine, biosensors, actuators, health care internet of things, smart systems, knowledge representation, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems enabled by cloud, cognitive and edge computing.

Dr.C.G.Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha released annual college magazine, SAMARTHYA.
