Industrial Visit to Pasteur Institute of India, Coonoor was organized on 01st March 2023 by JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru for 2nd Sem M. Pharm Pharmacognosy & Biotechnology and 2nd Year Pharm D. students. There are 30 students along with the HOD Dr. J Suresh. We were warmly welcomed by the Dr. Mohan, senior scientist. Ms. Monica gave the presentation on the history and the working flow of the institute. Pasteur Institute of India, Coonoor is producing Vero Cell derived Rabies Vaccine for Human use and DPT group vaccines consisting DPT Vaccine, DT Vaccine and TT Vaccine supplying to Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). It is functioning as an autonomous body under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Then Dr. Shekhar guided us with the visit. He took us to various production blocks, explained us the equipment, as it was an aseptic area we weren’t allowed inside. He showed us in-vitro the animal houses and they had their own animal breeding house and in in-vivo raw material and packaging material area. After completion of each batch, it was sent to Central Research Institute, Kasauli for purity testing. Later the visit came to an end. After that we went to Tea Factory, where they showed us the manufacturing process that turns fresh leaves into tea. After completion of the visit, they served us with their sample tea. It was an informative, interesting and successful visit. We express our thanks to the principal who permitted us to go on visit, our HOD who accompanied us and the officials who explained the various department.
