National CME on Tuberculosis 2023 - 18-03-2023

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, JSSAHER, Mysuru in association with District Tuberculosis Office, Department Of Health And Family Welfare, Mysuru and SIG in Public Health, JSS MC, organized National CME on Tuberculosis with the theme “YES ! WE CAN END TB- FUNDAMENTALS TO ADVANCES” on 18th March 2023..

Chief guest Dr Mohammed Shiraz Ahamed, DTO, Department of Health and Family welfare, Guests of Honour ,Dr Suma M N, Vice Principal (Pre clinical), Dr.Praveen Kulkarni ,Vice Principal (Para clinical) and Dr.Manthappa M, Vice Principal ( Clinical), JSS Medical Mysuru, Sri S.R.Satishchandra, Administrative Officer, Organizing Chairperson Dr.Sunil Kumar D, Professor and Head of Department Community Medicine, and Organizing Secretary, Dr..Nayanabai Shabhadi, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College inaugurated the event by watering the plant.

Dr.Mohammed Shiraz Ahamed addressed delegates about the burden of tuberculosis in our country and the work of different departments at various levels trying to combat the disease and striving towards the aim “ END-TB by 2025”. He emphasised on the contribution of the Karnataka Government and he as the district TB officer working towards the cause.

Dr.Mohammed Shiraz Ahamed was felicitated for his tremendous work in the field of tuberculosis by the dignitaries at the event.

The Community Medicine Chronicle, monthly E- Newsletter (first issue) of Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College was launched in the event. This monthly e-newsletter aims to promote community medicine while keeping readers informed about our department's activities and achievements.

This issue highlights our department's accomplishments and milestones from the past year (2022). In the upcoming Chronicle, there will be six sections, including outreach activities, awards and achievements, public health updates, Mind Benders, And Beyond, as well as Press and Media.

Inaugural function was concluded by proposing vote of thanks by Organizing Secretary Dr.Nayanabai Shabhadi.

The topics covered in the national CME on Tuberculosis included, “NTEP- Recent Updates” by Dr.Shazia Anjum, WHO Medical Consultant NTEP Karnataka State Head Quarters, followed by “Role of Medical College in TB Elimination” by Dr.Nirmala A R, Senior specialist State TB Centre, Karnataka, Bengaluru, “Research TB- overview of ongoing and prospective opportunities” by Dr.R.Balaji, Scientist E (Medical), ICMR, NIRT Chennai and “Leverage Real World Evidence for better health decision and better care in TB patients” by Mr.Parthiban S, President of OHDSI India Chapter, VP Innovation and Growth Global Value Web, Netherlands.

More than 1000 delegates registered for the National CME. Overall it was a grand success.
