Suttur Jathra festival was celebrated for six days between 18-01-2023 to 23-01-2023 at Sri Suttur Srikshetra where more than thousand people visited the Jathra celebrations during these days. The JSS College of pharmacy, Mysuru had put up an Exhibition stall in the Suttur Jathra festival showcasing the various courses and activities of different departments of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru in the Suttur Jathra Exhibition. It was inaugurated by His Holiness Sri Jaya Rajendra Swamiji & Dr. C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha on 18-01-2023 at 04:00 PM in the presence of other delegates and swamijis who graced the occasion. More than thousands of people /devotees visited the stall everyday and they were educated on the various courses offered by the college, the minimum qualification required to join the course and various job opportunities available for pharmacists were highlighted to them. The public /devotees were also educated on the role of each department of the college and their goals and objectives and their importance were explained to them. The public were also educated on safe use of medicines, Safety precautions to be taken on using medicines in elderly population, how to safely store the medications away from the reach of children’s. The farmers were educated on how to safely use the pesticides and what are the preventive/precautionary measures to be followed to avoid the toxicity while using pesticides for farming. General public were informed about the various activities carried out at department of pharmaceutical chemistry related to Modern research and innovation of new drug molecules and the different steps followed to discover a new drug. We explained about the different types of pharmaceutical preparations which are discovered by pharmaceutical chemistry department and developed to various types of new formulations by using different methods of manufacturing of these different pharmaceutical dosage forms.
