Online Teacher Training lecture Workshop on Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools with Pharmaceutical Research

A three days Online Teacher Training Lecture Workshop on “Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools with Pharmaceutical Research” was organized by Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, There are 55 pharmacy/life science teachers were participated for this workshop throughout the nation. The speakers are the experts from industry/academia in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools.

The inaugural function was on 9th November 2022, Dr. S.Jubie, Associate Professor, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, Convener of the workshop, welcomed the gathering. The genesis of the health awareness program is given by Dr. R.Kalirajan, Associate Professor & Head, JSS College of Pharmacy. He elaborated in detail about the importance of the workshop and the usefulness and application of the lectures to the participants. Followed the inauguration, the various scientific sessions have been conducted.

In session 1, Dr.M.Karthikeyan, Senior Principal Scientist, ational Chemical laboratories Centre for Scientific and Industrial research, Pune, India has delivered a talk on “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Sustainable Development Goals and Health”. In session 2, Ms. Dhivya Shanmugarajan, Senior Application Scientist, Altem technologies Bengaluru, Karnataka has delivered on the title “Unraveling the role of AI and ML in developing a toxic-free compound integrated approach in sustainable chemistry”. Both sessions were moderated by Dr.B.Gowramma, Associate Professor, JSS College of Pharmacy. In the afternoon session 3, Dr. Mohammed Afzal Azam, Principal, College of Pharmacy, JSS Academy of Technical Education, Noida, UttarPradesh, India has delivered a talk on “Trending role of Artificial Intelligence in drug discovery”. The session was moderated by Dr. S. Gomathi Swaminathan, Lecturer, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

In day 2, Session 4 Dr. Aishwarya Pawar Senior Scientist, Drug Development ,Prescience Insilico, Bengaluru has explained about “AI-Based Drug Discovery and Drug Repurposing using in silico Drug Discovery Software PRinS” Followed by, Dr. Sudip Roy, Founder and Managing Director, Prescience Insilico, Bengaluru, India has delivered a talk on “Multi-Target Multi-Ligand Enhanced Sampling screening using insilico Drug Discovery Software PRinS in Session 5. The sessions were moderated by Dr. T.Durai Ananda Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. JSS College of Pharmacy. In the afternoon, session 6, Mr.C.Jeyakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College of Pharmacy has explained in detail about “Adopting technological advancement”. In session 7, Dr.S.Murugesan, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, Rajasthan, India has delivered a talk on “Role of molecular modeling tools in drug discovery”. He has highlighted the usage of AI& ML tools in drug discovery and explained with one case study.The sessions were moderated by Dr.S.Jubie, Co-ordinator of the progrmme. In day 3, session 8, Dr.P.K.Krishnan Namboori, Associate Professor and Head, Amrita Molecular Modeling And Synthesis (AMMAS) Research lab, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham-University, Amritanagar, Ettimadai, Coimbatore- India has delivered a talk on “ Molecular Networking and drug repurposing tools in drug discovery”. Ms. Archa S Nair, Application Scientist, Zastra Innovations Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru, Karnataka. India has explained the “Jumbo VS in SeeSAR FlexX and ML based SAR modelling in StarDrop” Both sessions were moderated by Dr.S.Gomathy, Associate Professor, JSS College of Pharmacy. In the afternoon, session 10, Dr.T.Prabha,Professor & Head,Nandha College of Pharmacy, Tamilnadu has given a talk on “A machine learning language to build a QSAR model of pyrazoline derivative inhibitors targeting Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain H37Rv. The session was moderated by Dr.J.Srikanth, Lecturer, Two companies Prescience Insilico, and Zastra Innovations have given one-month free license to all the participants. There were 10 assessment tests was conducted.
