Thumb

An MoU was signed by the JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research- Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB) on 19th September 2022 to work in the area of genetics to extend the benefits of research in understanding the genetic basis of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). The collaboration would also work towards developing better genetic markers, polygenic risk score to discriminate between T1D and T2D enabling prediction of clinical course and targeted management of patients. This is one of the first of its kind work undertaken in India. CSIR-CCMB is a premier research organization in frontier areas of modern biology. The objectives of the center are to conduct high quality basic research and training in frontier areas of modern biology and promote centralized national facilities for new modern technique in the inter disciplinary areas of biology. The primary objective of the MoU is to collaborate and support research in the areas of Medical Sciences with focus on genetic studies in Diabetes for better healthcare research outcomes, and for facilitating robust diagnosis of the two common subtypes of diabetes and enabling informed treatment options. JSS AHER, Mysuru has established a separate department of genetics to pursue its academic and research outcomes. The department has achieved appreciable outcomes since its inception.
