Guest lecture by our honored speaker Dr Rajesh Kumar Goel on the subject “Combined network pharmacology and virtual reverse pharmacology approaches for identification of potential targets to treat vascular dementia” was organized on 6th July 2002 by Department of Pharmacology, JSS College of pharmacy Mysore. Dr K L Krishna, HoD, Department of Pharmacology and Dr V Balamuralidhara, HoD Department of Pharmaceutics heartly welcomed the guest. Mrs. Seema Mehdi, lecturer JSS College of Pharmacy Mysore, gave a brief introduction about the speakers before the commencement of the talk. The session was then taken forward by speaker. He briefed about the holistic approach that needed to be taken, the system and network pharmacology while development and repurposing of a drug molecule. He also explained about the various sources that can be utilized for the target development like Drug bank, DisGeNet, Ayushportal, InAct. Model validity in the animal model when compared to human models were also brought into light. He also showed the process incorporated for his study on vascular dementia and epilepsy. Overall, the talk was found to be very informative and interactive. It was focused on the system and network pharmacology proved to be beneficial for the students for their future endeavors. The session was concluded by K L Krishna, HoD, Department of Pharmacology by thanking the speaker for sharing their vast experience and knowledge.
