Inauguration of JSS AHER Skill and Simulation Centre - 14-03-2020

JSS Medical college a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, has established a Skill and Simulation Centre set up at a cost of Rs. 22 Crores in an area of 12,000 sq. Ft at third floor of old OPD block of JSS Hospital, M.G.Road, Mysuru.

This centre was inaugurated, by Dr Rakesh Kumar Vats, Secretary-General, Medical Council of India in the gracious presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji on 14thMarch 2020 at 10.30 am.

Dr.C.G.Betsurmath, Executive Secretary JSSMVP, presided the function. Dr.B.Suresh, Pro-chancellor & Dr.Surinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of JSS AHER were Guests of honour. Dr.Manjunatha, B registrar and Dr.(Col) Dayananda .M Director, JSS Hospital, were present on the occasion.

Guests walked through the skill and simulation centre and were appraised in detail about all the skill trainers, high fidelity simulators and surgical simulators along with the other facilities available at the centre.

Dr. Vats appreciated the efforts taken by JSSAHER to establish a state of art skill and simulation centre. He opined that all medical colleges across the country should have their own skill and simulation centre to effectively implement the new competency-based curriculum for under graduates and post graduates.

He updated the audience regarding the activities/ reforms done byMCI from past two years stressing upon the fact the increased seats for both under graduate and post graduates.

He also explained how MCI has taken initiative to focus on problem based learning by the students by giving many case based scenarios during exams.

Dr Vats explained how MCI has become more approachable in recent days and how feedback from all university Vice Chancellors, teachers and also students are considered in implementing new regulations especially for conducting post graduates entry level examination.

Dr.Vats applauded JSS AHER Skill and Simulation centre for its infrastructure and educational facilities available and opined that the centre has to set an example for all other medical institutions across the region . He wished the centre a huge success for having vision to become centre of excellence.

Main Service providers to skill and simulation centre- Mr Ashok Kapoor, Vishal Surgicals, Mr, Sivaram Rajagopalan, from Laerdal and Mr. Manjunath from Rasme consultancy, Bengaluru were felicitated by his holiness on this occasion.
