The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, JSS Dental College and Hospital, organized a “Best Out of Waste” Competition on 25th February 2026 as part of the celebrations of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics Day (5th March 2026)
Centered on the theme “Minimal Waste, Maximum Restoration!”, the event reflected the core philosophy of conservative dentistry — preserving maximum tooth structure while minimizing unnecessary removal — while also promoting environmental responsibility and sustainability
The event was hosted by Dr. Suneeth Shetty (Reader), Dr. Sowmya (Senior Lecturer), and Dr. Harini (Tutor) under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Ashwini T.S. The program was efficiently coordinated by postgraduate students Dr. Deepti, Dr. Gouri, and Dr. Kartik
A total of 31 teams comprising 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year BDS students participated enthusiastically. Participants showcased exceptional creativity by transforming discarded materials into innovative models, artwork, and functional items, many incorporating dental concepts and conservation principles
The competition successfully promoted sustainability, innovation, teamwork, and the philosophy of minimal intervention dentistry. The department expresses its sincere gratitude to the management of JSS Dental College and Hospital and JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research for their continued support, and to the Principal, Dr. Dhakshaini M. R., for her guidance and encouragement
