An inclusive art exhibition titled “Art for Smiles” was organized under the banner of the JSS Kalakriti Club by Dr. Varsha Tandure (Department of Medicine), Dr. Adarsh (Department of Orthopaedics), and Dr. Megha Sadashiv (Department of Psychiatry), with the active involvement of the club volunteers. The event was held on 25 February 2026 at the 2nd Floor Corridor, opposite the Department of Medicine, Admin Block, JSS Hospital, Mysore. The program was conducted with the blessings of His Holiness, with the kind permission and encouragement of BG Sir, and with the unwavering support of the Director, Dr. Madhu CP. The initiative was conceptualized with the objective of integrating art into healthcare settings while mobilizing resources to support pediatric patient care. The exhibition featured original artworks created by medical students and doctors, providing a vibrant and interactive platform for faculty, staff, students, and visitors to engage in creative expression within the hospital environment. More than 600 artworks and crafts were displayed during the event. The financial model ensured equitable distribution of proceeds, with 50% allocated to the participating artists and the remaining 50% designated for providing art supplies to children admitted to the pediatric ward at JSS Hospital. This initiative aims to encourage constructive engagement during hospitalization and reduce excessive mobile phone usage among admitted children through creative activities. The program witnessed an enthusiastic and encouraging response from the institutional community. The active participation and contributions reflected strong interdepartmental collaboration and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to holistic, patient-centered care. The event successfully achieved its dual objectives of promoting creativity within clinical settings and generating support for pediatric patient well-being, thereby reinforcing the therapeutic value of art in healthcare.
