Department of Pharmacy Practice in association with Pharmacy Education Unit (PEU) of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Clinical Trials – A Comprehensive Career’ on 25th August 2018 at Seminar Hall, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. Dr. Deepak Kumar Gunari, Senior Quality Specialist – Corporate Quality, PAREXEL International, Bangalore was the speaker for the lecture. The objective of this guest lecture was to create an awareness among the Pharm.D and M.Pharm Pharmacy Practice & Pharmacology students about different career opportunities in the area of Clinical Research. Dr. Deepak started the lecture with keywords used in Clinical Trials, definitions of Clinical Trials & Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and basic principles of ICH GCP. He explained in detail about the phases of Clinical Trials, Drug Development path and overview of Clinical Trial process. As part of the main the objective of the guest lecture, Dr. Deepak highlighted different career opportunities for M.Pharm and Pharm.D graduates in the area of Clinical Research like Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Clinical Logistic and Supplies, Clinical Data Management and Clinical Quality. At the end of the presentation, he touched upon the regulatory agencies in different countries and their functions. Staff of Department of Pharmacy Practice, Pharm.D Interns and M.Pharm Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacology students attended the guest lecture. Students got an opportunity to interact with the Speaker and benefited from the lecture.
