Department of Pharmacy Practice in association with Pharmacy Education Unit (PEU) of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Winds of Change – Make Partnership with Consumers’ on 23rd February 2019 at Seminar Hall, Department of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. Dr. Guru Prasad Mohanta, Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu was the speaker. The objective of this lecture was to make the students understand about recent updates and changes in Pharmacy Practice in India. During this lecture, Dr. G.P. Mohanta briefed on various aspects of medication therapy management, which are important to understand by the Pharmacy students. Some of these aspects are estimating benefit-risk ratio, cost of medicines, irrational use of medicines, essential medicines, fixed dose combinations, generic medicines, polypharmacy, resistance, self-medication, safety of medicines, and traditional medicines. At the end of his presentation, Dr. G.P. Mohanta highlighted about the important changes happened in Pharmacy profession in recent years like Pharmacist Day, Pharmacists identification as human resources in National Health Policy 2017, and Pharmacists are re-designated as Pharmacy Officers.
