Inauguration of Advanced Level Workshop on Pharmacovigilance

Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) and Regional Training Centre for South Zone, JSS Medical College &Hospital and Dept. of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College of Pharmacy,JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru jointly organized two days “Advanced Level Workshop on Pharmacovigilance” on 21st &22nd December 2018 at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. About 25 healthcare professionals from the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pudicherryare attending this workshop. The aim of this workshop was to provide training in order to advance the knowledge and develop skills amongst pharmacovigilance coordinators and patient safety pharmacovigilance associates working for Adverse Reaction Monitoring Centres (AMC) under PvPI, Ministry of Health& Family Welfare, Govt. of India. This two days workshop covers various aspects of drug safety and medication errors. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar, JSS AHER, Mysuru on 21st December 2018. Dr. H. BasavanaGowdappa, Principal, JSS Medical College, Mysuru, Dr. P. K. Kulakarni, Vice-Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru were present during the inaugural event. Dr.M. Ramesh,Coordinator, AMC, JSS Medical College & Hospital and Regional Training Centre for the South Zone welcomed the gathering and briefed about objectives of the workshop. Dr. B. Manjunatha, in his presidential addresshighlighted the importance of medication safety in patient care. Dr. H. BasavanaGowdappa, chief guest of the event mentioned that it is important to monitor the safety of the medicines in pre and post marketing phases. Dr. P. K. Kulakarni, was the guest of honour of the event. Mr. Krishna Undela, Lecturer, JSS College of Pharmacy, JSS AHER, Mysuru proposed vote of thanks.
