The course aims to provide in-depth Knowledge in statistical methods and in research methodology and is structured to give students scope for professional development and understanding the importance of Statistics in Research. The course provides opportunity to develop skills for data analysis and the statistical programmes such as SPSS, MATLAB in order to provide field experience and hands- on training. The course will also help students from various branches of Health sciences and related programs involved in research as a part of their academic requirements or professional engagement. This will also meet the needs of researchers who are in the process of developing their research proposals, acquiring skills of data collection, analyzing their data, and those aiming to get their research work published. This Program enables students to develop and understand basic concepts of research, research process and statistics in a short duration.
The Course accounts for a total of 20 credits.
The Course has three components: Core papers (I and II) and dissertation/Report Writing.
A student shall be declared to be eligible for the award of the Certificate Programme in Statistical methods and Research Methodology in Open Distance Learning mode, when he/she has fulfilled the following conditions.

Stavelin Abhinandithe is presently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Medical Statistics , Faculty of Life Sciences, JSSAHER. She has an working experience of 10 years in teaching profession with area of interest in time series analysis, Multivariate analysis and data Mining techniques . She has published 6 papers in peer reviewed national and international journals. She has taught Statistics as an elective paper for Msc Mathematics students, Msc Molecular Biology and Msc in Criminology and Forensic Science students in Maharaja's and Yuvaraja's colleges in Mysore . She has an experience of teaching Research Methodology paper for Ph.D students ( Criminology and Forensic Science students) in Maharaja's college.she is also engaging classes for Ph.D students who have enrolled for their course work in JSSAHER and taking classes on Research Methodology and statistical methods. Presently She is pursuing Ph.D in Division of Medical Statistics,Faculty of Life Sciences, Department of Water and Health, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru.
