Press note on 58th National Pharmacy Week Celebrations An initiative of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) “National Pharmacy Week (NPW)” is a channel to create awareness among the general public about the profession of Pharmacist and the role he plays to make a Healthier India. The theme for this year is “Pharmacist: Your Medication Counsellor”. The major focus of NPW celebrations is to create awareness among the public, other healthcare providers and the authorities, about the NPW theme. Acknowledging the invaluable contributions that the pharmacist make to the healthcare system, IPA, Mysuru branch is celebrating 58th National Pharmacy Week celebrations from 7th – 12th December, 2019. On the eve of National Pharmacy Week, 07th December 2019, the inaugural function of 58th National Pharmacy Week Celebration was organized at 11.00AM at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Prashant Kole, Senior Principal Investigator, Syngene International Ltd., Bangalore. After inaugurating the pharmacy week Dr. Prashant Kole mentioned in the role of pharmacist in building health of the society. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Anand Krishna, Manager, GSK Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Kolar. Chief guest in his address mentioned that, pharmacist knows about the medicines therefore helps patients about the medicines. He also said that today there are many ways by which pharmacist can help patients based on their requirements. The president of the event was Dr. T M Pramod Kumar, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. Guest of Honor for the celebrations are Dr. Md. Salahuddin, Vice President, IPA, Mysuru local branch & Principal, Farooqia College of Pharmacy, Dr. Hanumathachar Joshi, Principal, Sarada Vilas College of Pharmacy and Dr. Manjunata M, Principal, Cauvery College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. All the guests of honor addressed the gathering on the theme of National Pharmacy week. At last, the vote of thanks for the function was delivered by Dr. Chandan R. S, Secretary, IPA, Mysuru branch. Today, as part of pharmacy week celebration, the Women Throw ball tournament was conducted at Farooqia College of Pharmacy, Mysuru.
