” Fundamentals in Research Methodology for Dental Undergraduates” was held on 5th December 2019 at Smart Classroom by the Dental Education Unit (DEU) wing of CCPLE, JSS Dental College and Hospital, JSSAHER, Mysuru. Dr. Sunila B Sangappa, Convener, DEU presented the inaugural speech and introduced the Resource speakers Dr. Madhu B, Dr. Sreeshyla H S, Dr. Bhagyalakshmi, Dr. Praveen Kulkarni and Dr. Chandrashekar B R who dealt with sessions on Introduction to Research Methodology – How to choose a topic for research, Literature Search, Writing a Research Question, Research Design, Sample size estimation and Sampling techniques, Tools for data collection, Methods of Statistical analysis and Plagiarism and Reference writing

Dr. Ravindra S Principal JSSDCH , extended his greetings for this academic pursuit and opined that this workshop will encourage and assist in improving the quality of STS ICMR Research proposals submitted by the Students. Program was inaugurated by Dr. Kushallappa PA Director (Academics) who in his speech congratulated the Dental Education Unit for this commendable initiative towards orienting the Dental Undergraduate students towards Research Methodology

Resource Speakers oriented the Students towards Fundamental aspects in Research Methodology across all the five sessions of the day. Thirty- Six (36) participants across second, third year and Interns of the Institution benefited from the program. Tamal Das recipient of STS ICMR 19-20 shared his learning experience of submission of project proposal, carrying out the interdisciplinary In Vivo research project as a second year BDS student. Active and enthusiastic participation of the students across the full day workshop was highly appreciated

Dr. Sunila B Sangappa Convener DEU in her concluding remarks thanked the Resource Faculty for extending their expertise , valued the interest and participation of the young budding dentists and acknowledged the consent and encouragement from Dr.Ravindra S , Principal JSSDCH towards conducting this workshop as an regular event for the second year BDS students and Interns in the coming years. Student participants in their Feedback thanked the Resource Faculty and expressed their gratitude to the Institution for this opportunity at their early undergraduate years
