The department of Periodontology conducted a workshop, 'Stress management in Diabetic patients: A holistic approach through Dental care, Yoga and Ayurveda' as a part of the world diabetes day celebrations on 19th November 2019.

The chief guest was Dr. Rekha Bhat, Endocrinologist, Columbia Asia Hospital and the guest of honour was Dr. Surinder Singh, the honourable Vice chancellor of JSSAHER. The programme was attented by 80 participants which included diabetic patients, staff, under graduates and post graduates.

The speakers Dr. Avinash, Reader, dept of Periodotology spoke on the topic, “Stress - Diabetes and Oral health”. Dr.Vanitha Reddy, co-ordinator, department of Nutrition, Life Sciences, on the topic “Nutrition for diabetics.” Dr. Malathesha. N, instructor: Yoga therapy, Mudra, Pranayama, Meditation and PhD in Vedic Astrology spoke on the topic, 'Yoga and Stress management.'

A practical session on Yogasana for management of diabetes and meditation through music and transformation was conducted by Dr. Malthesha.N and Dr. Om Prakash K, Senior Medical officer, former Professor and HOD, JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital.

This was followed by screening and dental check-up camps where the patients were checked for the blood sugar and oral findings.
