National Science Day 2019 with the theme “Science for the People and the People for Science” was celebrated by the Department of Water an Health, Faculty of Life Sciences, JSS AHER on 28th February 2019 at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS College of Pharmacy, JSS AHER, Mysuru.

Dr. NB Ramachandra spoke on the topic 'Genomic variations and their implications in human health'

Dr. Basavangowdappa H as the guest of honor addressed the gathering by highlighting the exponential increase in the application of science for human health. He explained how growth in science and technology has been enormous and there is a need for incorporation of the applied science in the curriculum.

Dr. S. Balasubramanian expressed that science what we learn today is from Western culture, and Ancient Indians have been pioneers in science. He mentioned Prof. K. K. Pillai's writings describing the essence of Indian contribution towards science. He advised the students that it's time to rethink and rediscover to initiate contributions towards science like our ancestors. On this occasion, he urged students not to ponder only about facilities. While, the likes of Sir CV Raman and APJ Abdul Kalam worked with minimal infrastructure.
