Induction Programme for MBBS Phase-I, 2021-2022 Batch - 07-04-2022

The Induction program for MBBS students of 21-22 batch was organised on WHO world health day i.e on 7th April 2022.

The program started by seeking the divine blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji and His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. Dr Arun M, Professor & Head, Department of Forensic medicine and Convener of Medical Education Unit welcomed all dignitaries, faculties, students, and colleagues. The program began with the invocation song by Ms. Sristi, Phase I MBBS student and was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries and two new entrants. Dr. Surinder Singh, Vice chancellor of JSSAHER, addressed the students and emphasised on the key roles played by the competent physician in the society. He also talked about the illustrious legacy of quality of medical education provided by the medical college. Dr.Manjunatha B, Registrar, JSSAHER released the academic calendar, and he addressed the students highlighting the importance of hands-on experience in medical education and stressed on the factor of minimal usage of social media and to take care of their health. Maharshi Charak Shapath was administered to the students by Dr.Suma M.N., Vice Principal. Dr.Kushalappa P.A., Director Academics gave an insight about the journey of JSSAHER, which was followed by a lucid presentation about JSS Medical College by Dr.Basavana Gowdappa, Principal, JSS Medical college. An overview of JSS Hospital was delivered by Dr.G.V.Manjunath, Deputy Director, JSS Hospital. Students were given an overview on the CBME curriculum by Dr.Pushpalatha K, Professor and Head of Anatomy, which was followed by a talk on Examination pattern and the passing criteria by Dr.Renuka M, Deputy Controller of Examination, JSSAHER. Students were introduced about the mentorship program its importance, the roles and responsibilities of mentees and mentors by Dr.Pushpa V.H. Associate Professor of Pharmacology. Our chief Guest Dr.S.N.Manjunath commemorated the World Health Day with its theme “Our Planet, Our Health”. He emphasised the students about their role in bringing the change in the health profession giving importance to healthy life style, green energy, waste management, concentrating on social determinants of health and stressed that in the present era- prevention is the only cure. He also highlighted on the challenges that has to be addressed by the health professionals like environmental, epidemiological, economic, ethics and emerging disease which are all interlinked. Ultimately, he emphasised the students to have a direct role in contributing towards the theme by implementing the changes at individual level. Dr.M.R.Narayanamurthy, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine gave a brief introduction on the family adoption program. Dr.Rajalakshmi R, Professor and Head, Department of Physiology delivered the Vote of thanks. Post lunch MBBS phase II students celebrated freshers’ day by various cultural events and freshers showcased their talents in cultural events.
