“Access to Diabetes care”, is the theme of World Diabetes day 2021. Oral health plays a major role in the overall management of diabetes. Hence, Department of Periodontology and SIG: Diabetes and oral care conducted a three-day program.

15/11/21, Day 1: Diabetes day camp.

Advertisements were given in paper and radio, calling for Diabetics to attend the oral health camp in the department. Dental checkups and Random blood sugar checks were performed. Patients attended educational talks about diabetes and oral care. Oral hygiene techniques were demonstrated and toothpaste samples were distributed.

16/11/2021, Day 2: Webinar on “A glimpse on soft tissue LASER” by Dr. Anand from Dentsply Sirona.

The webinar covered basics of LASER emission, safety precautions and applications in dentistry. The program was attended by Staff, 20 Postgraduates, undergraduates and dental practitioners.

17/11/2021, Day 3: Workshop on “Soft tissue LASER application” by Dr. Anand from Dentsply Sirona.

This was a full day workshop where Periodontal surgeries using LASER were performed on patients and relayed via webcam to the participants. LASER application was practiced on vegetables and extracted teeth. Attended by teaching staff of Periodontology department, postgraduate students of Periodontology and Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics and Interns.
