The Department of Anatomy JSS medical college organized a table wise photovoice competition to explore the skills of 1st MBBS students. They reflected upon the views of students on cadaver as first teacher. This event was judged by Dr Poornima G C professor of anatomy, and Dr Asha Shekhar Professor of Physiology, Mysore medical college. First prize -table 1. Second -table 5 and Third prize was to 9th table.
The Aetcom module 1.5 'Cadaver as first teacher' was the theme of the competition. It was conducted on 13th February 2021 in gallery 6.
The competition explored the creativity of students through reflective practice executed through this novel method. They Reflected upon what they felt when they first saw the cadaver wrt body donation, empathy, connection with real life hospital setting and cadaver as your first teacher.
Highlights of Module :Background: Medical students enter college and their first and lasting encounter is with the cadaver. Respect for cadaver as a teacher translates later into respect for human beings as teachers and a lifelong respect for learning. Throughout the world the emphasis on “humanizing” the cadaver with respect as first patient or first teacher has gained momentum.
