A 2 days national level hands on 4th temporal bone dissection workshop and live surgical demonstration was successfully organised for the second time by department of Otorhinolaryngology and head and neck JSS hospital on 8th and 9th February 2020 at JSS Hospital, along with Workshop on Cochlear Implantation and Live Surgery Demonstration on 10th& 11th February 2020. The overwhelming response from consultants and PG from all over the was the encouragement which under able leadership and efficient utilisation of resources resulted in this dream come true. Dr. Guruswamy, Medical Superintendent, JSS Hospital graced the occasion with his presence. The day started with discussion on Myringotomy, tympanotomy, stapedotomy by Dr. Babu A.R and Cortical mastoidectomy, posterior tympanotomy by Dr. Sandhya, which was followed by Canal wall intact facial nerve decompression by Dr. Prakash B.G. Each demonstration session was followed by hands on by the delegates. There were about 15 delegates who were present at the workshop. Day 2 commenced with the demonstration of Endolymphatic sac decompression, Labyrinthectomy along with Translabyrinthine approach to IAM, Radical Mastoidectomy by Dr. Bharathi M.B. which was followed by hands on by delegates. Cochlear Implantation workshop commenced on February 10th with a talk by Dr.Bharathi on Anatomy and Physiology of Cochlea: General and Radiological findings followed by Dr. Saransh Jain giving an overview on Cochlear implants: Mapping and Neural Response Telemetry. Dr. Asha Yathiraj spoke on Auditory Visual testing followed by a talk on Trends in Implantable Technology: Brainstem and Midbrain Implants by Dr. Sandhya Day 2 of the Cochlear Implant Workshop started off with the Live demonstration of Cochlear implant surgery with Dr. Shankar Medikeri followed by a talk delivered by him on Cochlear Implant in abnormal cochlea. The workshop concluded with high tea session and distribution of certificates to delegates. Workshop also provided post graduates of the department not just an arena for acquiring knowledge but also an opportunity to develop their organising skills.
