NSS Cell, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru under the umbrella of National Service Scheme celebrated NSS Day from 20th September to 24th September 2019 by organizing various activities. NSS Unit of JSS Dental College in association with all other NSS Units organized the activities on behalf of University. Various competitions like essay writing, debate, drawing, short film competitions were organized from 20th to 23rd September 2019. A rally to create awareness among general public about ill effects of use of plastic was organized on 21st September 2019. Rally started from JSS College of Pharmacy, passed through JSS Medical College campus, streets of Hanumanth Nagar, Bannimantap and ended in JSS College of Pharmacy. On 22nd September 2019, NSS Cell, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru under the umbrella of National Service Scheme organized cleanliness drive and Health Screening Camp at Chamundi Hills. More than 200 volunteers from constituent colleges participated actively. More than 30 bags of plastic were collected by our students and it was disposed. Health screening was done such as monitoring of blood glucose, Blood Pressure and BMI for about 300 people. A second rally to create awareness among general public about ill effects of use of plastic was organized on 22nd September 2019, which started from Mahishasura statue and went around the Chamundeshwari temple and ended in the parking lot of Chamundi hill. All the NSS Program Officers along with other staff were present. Prasada and temple darshan was arranged by the temple authorities. We thank the all the authorities of the Chamundi temple for their cooperation. NSS Day celebration was held on 24th September 2019 at 10am in the Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. Dr Yallappa Reddy, Environmentalist and former Indian Forest Service Officer, the Chief Guest inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. He spoke about the importance of conserving the environment on the occasion. Dr B. Prizes for winners of various competitions held as part of NSS day celebrations were distributed.
