The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) of Mysuru division has celebrated world pharmacist day at Rajendra auditorium of JSS College of Pharmacy, Shivarathreeshwar Nagar, Mysuru. The celebration function was held at 10.30 am. Ms. Aishwarya, Third B Pharm delivered the invocations song. Dr. TM Pramod Kumar, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy formally welcomed the dignitaries and guests. Followed by there was a lighting lamp ceremony as mark of celebration of pharmacist day in the Mysuru city. The inauguration was rendered by Dr. Raman Dang, Former Registrar, DIPSAR and presently General Secretary, APTI. Chief Guest for the function was Prof. K. Byrappa, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean of research, Adichunchanagiri University, BG Nagara. The chief guest in his address emphasized the role of pharmacist in the health care system. Pharmacist plays important role in drug discovery, nanotechnology, drug development, clinical research, community medicine and pharmaceutical marketing. He also mentioned that, pharmacists are the experts of medicines. Since, science is interdisciplinary therefore pharmacist must gear up to understand different aspects related to drugs right from their discovery to delivery to the patients. Guests of honour, Dr. Md. Salahuddin, Vice president, IPA, Mysuru branch and Dr. Hanumanthar Joshi, Principal, Sharada Vilas College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, in their speech stressed the importance of pharmacist role in health care system and public has to give more recognition to pharmacist. They mentioned that, IPA, Mysuru branch has planned many events for the future. In this world, pharma industry is very huge and it’s growing to be leader in deciding economy. They thanked Dr. B. Suresh for switching many regulations from PCI time to time to uplift the pharmacist profession. However, still there are some issues in pharmacy profession that need to be fixed for the betterment of pharmacist. They thanked Dr. B. Suresh for his role in fixing pharmacists day on September 25 in India. Mr. Manjunatha from Kavery College of Pharmacy, Mysuru shared his views on the world pharmacist day. He stressed doctors to reduce unnecessary prescriptions and Pharmacist need to play multifaceted role.
