Dr.Amruthesh. C Shivachar delivered a lecture on the “Hypoxia: A cell culture model for ischemic stroke.” on 27th of March. Topics included were basics of cell culture, ischemic stroke, anoxia, epidemiology of stroke by race or ethinic group, risk factors for ischemic stroke. Experimental induction of cerebral ischemia in a rat model by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), physiological effects of cerebral anoxia, cell culture model for ischemia and Principles involved in the study, detailed procedure. He also shared detailed experimental protocols. He concluded with the importance of cell culture model for ischemic stroke and made note that cell culture model will give a supporting data for ischemic stroke. His lecture enlightened the students and staff regarding basics and applications of cell culture model for ischemic stroke in research.
